EDI Hosts Employee Resource Group Panel; Faculty and Staff Invited to Join Group Supporting Minorities

The Division of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion is working to develop an employee resource groups at Creighton University that acknowledges the unique experiences of racial and ethnic minorities. It will be open to faculty and staff, both of racial and/or ethnic minorities and individuals who want to advocate for racial and ethnic equity.

In a launch event, more than 65 people attended the initial introduction and planning session at the Harper Center, hearing from a panel of four local professionals involved in their organizations ERGs. Panelist represented Boys Town, Children’s Hospital and Medical Center, WP Engine, and Signature Performance. Faculty and staff learned how ERGs are formed, what they do, and how they are involved in their organizations and communities. Read the minutes from the Nov. 18 planning meeting.

ERGs are voluntary, employee-led groups that help foster diverse and inclusive workplaces, aligned with the mission and values of an institution. ERGs usually involve the participation of employees who may share similarities, such as race, gender and ethnicity, and is open to all individuals who seek to create an equitable and inclusive organization.

Those who didn’t make it to the launch event are invited to learn more.
