Federal Vaccine Deadline for Employees Moved to Jan. 4, 2022

The White House last Thursday announced it was pushing back the deadline on the vaccine requirement for workplaces considered federal contractors. With this decision, all Creighton employees are now required to be fully vaccinated or obtain a medical or religious exemption by Jan. 4, 2022. The previous deadline was Dec. 8, 2021.

Individuals are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after receiving the second dose of two-dose vaccines, such as Pfizer and Moderna, or two weeks after a single dose of Johnson & Johnson.

Therefore, Dec. 21 is the last day individuals can get their final dose to meet the Jan. 4 deadline. Specific vaccine deadlines to meet the requirement are as follows:

  • Johnson & Johnson – single dose by Dec. 21.
  • Moderna – two-dose vaccine requiring four weeks between doses; first dose by Nov. 23, second dose by Dec. 21.
  • Pfizer – two-dose vaccine requiring three weeks between doses; first dose by Nov. 30, second dose by Dec. 21.

Upload proof of vaccination to the BirdHouse after each dose.

Exemption request forms remain available on the University’s COVID-19 Response website. Please send completed, signed forms to [email protected] with “COVID-19 Medical Exemption Request” or “COVID-19 Religious Exemption Request” in the subject line. Once a form is received, individuals can expect a response via email within five business days as to whether the request is approved or denied.

Individuals receiving an exemption will be required to wear a face covering beginning Jan. 4, 2022. The previously announced date of Nov. 29 no longer applies.
