First-Generation Sophomore to Represent Creighton in Washington

Leilani Hung, a sophomore medical anthropology major from Monterey Park, California, has been selected as Creighton University’s representative to attend Michelle Obama in Conversation on Tuesday, Nov. 9.

Hung will be in the Washington, D.C., area and join about one dozen other students from colleges and universities nationwide in this live event, which will be streamed to participating institutions. Hung identified with the themes in Obama’s memoir that include the trials and triumphs of being the first in the family to attend college. This inspiration carried Hung from California to Creighton, which she calls her “dream school.”

Creighton University, designated a First-Gen Forward institution by NASPA’s Center for First Generation Student Success, is celebrating National First-Generation Student Week, Nov. 8-12.

If you missed the deadline to register for the link, you can attend the watch party to support Hung on Nov. 9 at 11:30 a.m. in the Hixson-Lied Auditorium at the Mike and Josie Harper Center. Pizza will be provided.
