Dec. 6-7: Empty Bowls Project

Dec. 6: 4-8 p.m.
Dec. 7 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Creighton Lied Art Gallery

From its humble beginnings as a meal for the staff of one high school, Empty Bowls has spread across the globe and has raised tens of millions of dollars for anti-hunger organizations.

Please join us for dinner, lunch or both at the CU Empty Bowls event at the Creighton Lied Art Gallery. When you purchase a beautiful handmade ceramic bowl you will enjoy delicious soup and bread. CU students, faculty, staff and many volunteers created each one-of-a-kind piece of pottery. All proceeds will go directly to the Siena/Francis House of Omaha.

This year’s event will be the 7th installment of the CU Empty Bowls Project. To date the project has raised over $30,000 for hunger relief in the Omaha metro.

The cornerstone of the CU Empty Bowls Project is the service-learning course Arts and Civic Engagement. Students enrolled in this course work in a communal environment both inside and outside the classroom in partnership with the Siena/Francis House Homeless Shelter. Through a hands-on approach students learn the value of labor and its creative application to real-world situations. Every bowl sold serves as a reminder that even the smallest efforts can support positive social change.
