Mindrup Honored with National Recognition for NF Awareness; Paintings in National Exhibition and Campaign

Rachel Mindrup, MFA, assistant professor of drawing and painting in the Department of Fine and Performing Arts, and the inaugural Richard L. Deming, MD, Endowed Chair of Medical Humanities, is one of seven recipients to be honored with a national recognition award from the Children’s Tumor Foundation. Because of her Neurofibromatosis (NF) awareness done through painting, the Foundation honored Mindrup with the “Make NF Visible” award, which she received during a virtual awards presentation last month.

Additionally, the NF Network has chosen to use Mindrup’s paintings in their Combine Federal Campaign. One of the numerous ways the NF Network receives donations is through CFC – Combine Federal Campaign. CFC is the world’s largest and most successful annual workplace charity campaign, with almost 200 CFC campaigns throughout the country and overseas raising millions of dollars each year. Pledges made by Federal civilian, postal and military donors during the campaign season will support eligible non-profit organizations that provide health and human service benefits throughout the world.

Mindrup also had two pieces juried into national exhibitions:

Her painting of “Cher Packing Lunches” was juried into a national exhibition. The University of Southern Mississippi National Juried Painting Exhibition is a biennial exhibition featuring the best in contemporary painting. The exhibition was made possible in part through a grant from Partners for the Arts. This year, 732 total entries were submitted by artists from across the country. 55 paintings were selected for this year’s exhibition.

Her aquatint titled “The Wristband” (image below) was juried into the 42nd Annual National Juried Art Show at the ACWC Gallery in Greensboro, North Carolina.
