Turnover of Catholic School Superintendents a Looming National Crisis, Say Creighton Education Professors in Published Study

Tim Cook, Ron Fussell, and Tom Simonds, SJ, professors in the Department of Education in the College of Arts and Sciences at Creighton, conducted a national study about attrition among Catholic school superintendents.

Their study, “Turnover and Retention of Catholic School Superintendents in the United States: Averting a Crisis,” has been published online by International Studies in Catholic Education, a peer-reviewed international journal in the United Kingdom. The research study explored the reasons respected superintendents give for leaving their positions earlier than they expected.

Based on these findings, Cook, Fussell and Simonds made recommendations for increasing retention among effective Catholic school superintendents.
