Awards Ceremony Celebrates Ignatian Spirit

The Deglman Center for Ignatian Spirituality will present its annual St. Ignatius Award to two Creighton employees, and outstanding school and college programs that deepen the University’s mission will be honored today (Thursday, Sept. 2) at a 3:30 p.m. (CDT) ceremony in the Skutt Student Center, Mutual of Omaha Ballroom, followed by a reception. Campus masking requirements will be in effect. All are invited.

Kevin Powers, PhD, academic success consultant for the School of Pharmacy and Health Professions, and Kelly Tadeo Orbik, associate director of the Schlegel Center for Service and Justice and interim director of Campus Ministry, will receive the Spirit of St. Ignatius Award for 2021. This award is presented annually to faculty and staff who live the spirit of St. Ignatius and reflect the University’s Ignatian ideals.

In addition, this year programs within the schools and colleges that invite colleagues into a deeper understanding of, and appreciation for, Ignatian spirituality will receive the inaugural Ignatian Formation Citation. Programs to be honored are:

  • College of Arts and Sciences: Arts and Sciences Haddix Ignatian Advising Program – Sophomore Year Program
  • Heider College of Business: Dean’s Honor Roll for Social Responsibility
  • School of Dentistry: The Program for Ignatian Mindfulness
  • School of Medicine: Physician Vocation Program
  • Graduate School: EdD in Interdisciplinary Leadership Program
  • School of Law: Pro Bono Program
  • School of Pharmacy and Health Professions: School of Pharmacy and Health Professions: Implicit Bias and Diversity Awareness in the Context of Creighton’s Catholic Mission and Jesuit Identity
  • College of Nursing: Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Taskforce
