Rebecca Murray, PhD, associate dean for social and applied sciences, was invited to present at the National Innocence Project’s Policy Conference in Salt Lake City on June 11-12 on “Working Effectively & Respectfully with Victims & Survivors Groups.” Murray was asked to present on her unique role as a long-standing board member for the Nebraska Innocence Project and as a founding member of the Nebraska Victim Assistance Academy (NEVAA).
Earlier this year, Murray also worked with the National Innocence Project and Sen. Adam Morefeld on LB 352, a legislative bill limiting the use of jailhouse informants. Her testimony spoke directly to the bill’s benefit both for the wrongly convicted and victims of crime. LB352 was passed this spring by the Nebraska legislature and signed into law by Governor Ricketts on April 24.
