Students, Professors Present at the Midwest Political Science Association Meeting

Creighton political science professors Rick Witmer, PhD, and Erika Moreno, PhD, accompanied six political science majors to the Midwest Political Science Association Meeting in Chicago the weekend of April 6-8.

Dr. Witmer’s research presentation, co-authored with Creighton alumni, and current Kennesaw State University political science professor Josh Johnson, PhD, was titled “The Least Dangerous Branch? Justice Support for American Indian Cases Before the U.S. Supreme Court.”

Dr. Moreno presented her paper “Naming, Shaming, and Public Perception: The Defensoria del Pueblo and Human Rights in the Americas.”

Student poster presentations included Brandon Crawford “Adoption of Renewable Portfolio Standards by State Governments: The Role of Internal and External Geographic Determinants,”,Betty Gillespie “Comparing the Rise of Populist Radical Right Parties in Eastern and Western Europe,” Dani Kerin “Explaining Discrepancies in Nebraska County Voting”, Jake Landreth “Politics, Race and Public Support for the Supreme Court,” Catherin Morehouse “Media Consumption Habits and Impact on Individual Vote Choice in 2012 and 2016 U.S. Presidential Elections,” and Rachel O’Neal “The Legality of Homosexuality.”
