Education Professors Present at Catholic School Superintendents’ National Meeting

Ron Fussell, EdD, Jean Hearn, EdD and Tim Cook, PhD, presented the findings of a qualitative research study called “Supporting Pastors as Leaders of Catholic Schools” on Oct. 22 at the National Catholic Educational Association’s Catholic Leadership Summit and New Leaders Academy in Newport, Rhode Island.

Pastors take on an essential role in the leadership of parish schools. According to the study’s findings, the formation that pastors receive for leading schools is often insufficient. In this interactive session that had an overflowing audience, Fussell, Hearn and Cook discussed with Catholic school superintendents the research results and invited superintendents to share best practices as they reflected on the role that they and their diocesan offices play in supporting pastors for their essential role in Catholic school leadership.
