SPAHP Faculty/Staff Present at AACP

The American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) held their annual meeting in Chicago July 13-17, where several members of the School of Pharmacy and Health Professions participated.

Wadas-at-aacpcropKatie Wadas-Thalken, EdD, director of Academic Success, presented on how faculty and administrators can support pregnant and parenting students called, “She’s Pregnant! Guiding Faculty as They Accommodate Pregnant and Parenting Students.” Wadas-Thalken also presented a poster on this topic and a poster on the success of an elective course on well-being and student success.

Zara Risoldi Cochrane, PharmD, associate professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice and director of the Center for Drug Information & Evidence-Based Practice, led a roundtable session on incorporating Drug Information into rotations of any type.

Kimberley Begley, PharmD, associate professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice, presented two research posters on her work with students in the skills lab, describing her work in improving long-term retention of clinical material with students and the success of a telepharmacy simulation lab experience.

The American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP), founded in 1900, is the national organization representing pharmacy education in the United States. Pharmacy is the third largest health profession – after nursing and medicine – with more than 200,000 clinicians practicing in community pharmacies, hospitals and many other healthcare settings.
