The Creighton Physics Department collaborated with a consortium of Omaha Catholic middle schools to host a science outreach event for 600 middle school students, culminating in the incredible experience of viewing the August 21 solar eclipse. Over 30 Creighton students and faculty spent the morning on a farm near Tecumseh, Nebraska, deep in the path of totality, sharing science activities and hands-on physics demonstrations with students from ten area middle schools. After a morning of rain and clouds, the skies cleared for a spectacular view of the total solar eclipse and the euphoric sounds of the awe-struck crowd. The event was generously supported by funding from the NASA Nebraska Space Grant Consortium.
