Markoe-DePorres Annual Social Justice Lecture, Sept. 28

Join the College of Arts and Sciences for the Markoe-DePorres Annual Social Justice Lecture on Tuesday, Sept. 28, from 7 to 9 p.m. CDT in the Harper Center, Room 2057, 602 N 20th St.

Roger Bergman, PhD, professor emeritus and founding director of the Justice and Peace Studies Program, will speak from his new book, Preventing Unjust War: A Catholic Argument for Selective Conscientious Objection. Bergman will argue that selective conscientious objection, the right and duty of soldiers to refuse to fight unjust war, can prevent the Catholic just war tradition from being misused to support and sustain unjust conflicts.

This event is free and open to the public. Face coverings will be required for admission.
