Nominations for 2018 Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Week awards are now open.
The committee is seeking nominations for the following awards:
- Martin Luther King Jr. Student Leadership Award
- This award is given to individuals who have demonstrated Dr. King’s legacy in the areas of social justice and civil rights advocacy. Honorees have exhibited distinguished civic, cultural or volunteer service and demonstrated a commitment to education and community ideals espoused by Creighton University’s mission statement.
- John P. Schlegel, SJ Diversity Award
- The John P. Schlegel, SJ Diversity Awards recognize and celebrate innovative and/or effective initiatives to support and advance diversity on the Creighton campus. There are three award categories:
- Academic/Administrative Department
- Individual
- Diversity related scholarship/research

- Martin Luther King Jr. Drum Major Award
- Creighton University would like to acknowledge moral, religious or spiritual leaders who represent the ideals of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Toward this end, we are soliciting nominations for the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drum Major Award. The nominee(s) must demonstrate qualities promoting social justice whose efforts have had a significant impact on the lives of the community with inspiration to meet the challenges society faces today. All submissions must include the individual(s) name, organization affiliate (if applicable) and a brief description of their accomplishments.

- Creighton University would like to acknowledge individuals who represent the ideals of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Toward this end, we are soliciting nominations for the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Legacy Award. The nominee(s) must demonstrate qualities promoting social justice, racial harmony and civic rights with a commitment to the educational and community ideals espoused by Creighton University’s Mission Statement, coupled with high personal integrity. All submissions must include the individual(s) name, company affiliate (if applicable) and a brief description of their accomplishments.
