Langar: An Interfaith Meal

Langar is a communal meal shared by all visitors to the Gurdwara, the Sikh place of worship. The idea is that all are equal, thus the rich and the poor, men and women, children, sit together in a common space and eat the same, simple food. It promotes peace and understanding when you sit down with others and share a meal.

The students who attended the international conference Parliament of the Worlds Religions in the Fall of 2015 in Salt Lake City had powerful experiences with Langar and are excited to bring it to campus. Campus Ministry is coordinating with a Gurdwara in Des Moines, Iowa to host a Langar at Creighton to help promote the celebration of diversity of faith.

We hope you can join us for this important and powerful Interfaith experience!
