Youngblood Named Anesthesiology Department Chair

Youngblood_Charles-profileCharles Youngblood, MD’02, MBA’15, was named chair in the Department of Anesthesiology, effective Oct. 1, 2018. Youngblood has been a faculty member since 2011. He is an associate professor in the department and has served as interim chair since 2013.

Youngblood pursued creative writing before entering medical school and completed a Master of Fine Arts in Writing at the University of Nebraska in Omaha in 2015. After earning his medical degree from Creighton University, Youngblood completed his anesthesiology residency at the Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, in Portsmouth, Virginia. He then served as a staff anesthesiologist during Operation Enduring Freedom in Shindand and Kunduz, Afghanistan. Prior to returning to Creighton University, he was assistant department head in the Department of Anesthesiology at the Naval Medical Center Jacksonville in Jacksonville, Florida.

Youngblood is the founding member for the Board of Directors of AT EASE, a charitable organization that provides mental health services to veterans and their families. He has received numerous military honors including Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal and NATO Distinguished Service Model.
