Peter Abel, PhD, has been named chair of the Department of Pharmacology in the School of Medicine, where he has served in an interim leadership role since August 2016. Abel joined the department in 1987 and has a secondary appointment in the Department of Pharmacy in the School of Pharmacy and Health Professions. He received the Distinguished Faculty Service Award in 2009 and the medical school’s Dedicated Teacher Award in 2006.
