Kimberley Begley, PharmD, associate professor of pharmacy practice, presented a live virtual session at the Annual Meeting of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy entitled Better Together: Supporting Pharmaceutical Care Skills Through Interprofessional Activities.
The session emphasized Interprofessional Education (IPE) and drew attention to the importance for pharmacy programs to prepare students to provide entry-level, patient-centered care as a contributing member of an interprofessional team.
The presentation discussed the need for schools and colleges of pharmacy to undergo an evidence-based programmatic redesign focusing on the interprofessional nature of healthcare, including embedding required IPE activities within their Skills Labs.
Begley co-presented with Susanne Barnett, PharmD, and Jonathan Gallimore, PhD, from the University of Wisconsin – Madison and Jared Van Hooser, PharmD, from the University of Minnesota.
