Campus Ministry Welcomes Protestant Chaplain Olson Kopp

Campus Ministry introduces a new member of the community, Gretchen Olson Kopp.

G Olson KoppOlson Kopp now serves as a part-time protestant chaplain within the Campus Ministry department. Within the Division of Mission and Ministry, she helps Creighton deepen its support of Protestant-identifying students. For those familiar with the work that Dr. Ashley Hall provided students over the years, Olson Kopp will pick up where we left off in collaborating with him and help us expand this important ministry. Campus Ministry recognizes Hall for his extraordinary support of this ministry.

This fall, Olson Kopp will continue work she began in the spring, offering a weekly Sunday evening worship gathering, The Common Well, for those from a wide span of Christian backgrounds. She looks forward to walking with students throughout their Creighton years and exploring ways to collaborate with departments across campus in the worship and community life of The Common Well.

Olson Kopp holds a master’s in business administration and a master of public administration from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University. She has experience in fascinating work related to, among other things, affordable housing finance, program evaluation and research for the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), and, most recently, as a chaplain intern at Children’s Hospital here in Omaha.

She is on the ordination track within the ELCA and is working toward her Certificate in Spiritual Direction in Creighton’s Christian Spirituality program.

In addition to completing a portion of her Clinical Pastoral Education hours with Campus Ministry, Olson Kopp has also been serving as a chaplain with the free medical clinic and food pantry ministries sponsored by Kountze Memorial Lutheran Church. Please join Campus Ministry in welcoming Gretchen Olson Kopp and helping connect her with interested students.
