Jose McClanahan, PhD, associate professor and chair of the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures, and his group of FLPA Japan students recently visited the Omaha’s sister city Shizouka’s city council and had a visit with the mayor of Shizouka, Mayor 田辺 信宏 Tanabe Nobuhiro. The students were also featured in an article in the local newspaper, where a reporter interviewed senior Maggie Grunenwald about her experiences in Japan. The students learned about the importance and function of the city government from the Office of the Mayor and the City of Shizuoka.
