Thomas Baechle, PhD, professor emeritus of exercise science, received the National Strength and Conditioning Association- Pioneer’s Award on Jan. 19, 2019 at the NSCA Nebraska State Clinic at the College of Saint Mary. NSCA co-founder Boyd Epley presented the award to Baechle on behalf of the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Baechle is co-founder, past president and former director of education for NSCA. In 1998, he received the NSCA Lifetime Achievement Award. Baechle retired in August 2018 from the College of Arts and Sciences where he taught for over 40 years and served as chair of the Department of Exercise Science and Pre-Health Professions for most of those years.
