Nursing Faculty Present DEU Clinical Model in Portland

Elizabeth Flott, EdD, Trisha Beiermann, MSN, and Jacque Miller, MSN, represented a group of College of Nursing faculty who conducted research on the DEU clinical model at the DEU Symposium in Portland, Oregon on July 13. Two podium presentations presented “Defining Roles and Expectations for Faculty, Nurses, and Students in a Dedicated Education Unit” and “Bridging the Gap: Student, Staff Nurse, and Patient Perceptions of a Psychiatric Mental Health DEU” focused on the development of the Dedicated Education Unit (DEU) rounding guides and implementation of the DEU model within both medical and mental health settings. A poster presentation “The Influence of the DEU Clinical Model on Standardized Test Scores” discussed ATI standardized test score results in comparison to non-DEU students.
