The Heider College of Business would like to congratulate Anne York, PhD, on her recent retirement.
Anne’s path to the profession includes a Bachelor of Science in mathematics from the University of Alabama, a Master of Arts in Victorian literature from Northwestern University, and a PhD in strategic management from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Following her doctorate, she served as a professor of strategic management at the University of Washington (1991-1995) and the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (1996-2004). Anne joined the faculty at the University of Nebraska Omaha in 2004, serving as associate professor of strategic management and entrepreneurship, and was the founder and director of the Maverick Entrepreneurship Institute.
Creighton University was blessed to have Anne join our College in 2006. In addition to her role as associate professor of strategic management and entrepreneurship, Anne was instrumental in the development of innovative programs. She created and led our entrepreneurship programs, including the Bioscience Entrepreneurship Program and Professional Science Masters degree in Bioscience Management. Most recently, she served as founder and director of our Doctorate of Business Administration program.
Anne acted as a consummate faculty member, engaging deeply across teaching, scholarship, and service. She has taught strategic management and entrepreneurship to undergraduates, graduates, and executives. Anne has published numerous articles on the topics of corporate strategy, technology entrepreneurship, and firm and environmental performance. Her record also exemplifies a willingness to engage in projects with colleagues, and to shepherd junior faculty and doctoral students through the research process.
