Documentary Shares Stories of ILAC PT Students and The Human Connection

To celebrate the work of the Institute for Latin American Concern and its physical therapy program, the Division of Mission and Ministry commissioned a short documentary film directed and edited by alumnus and filmmaker Nico Sandi, BA’15. Sandi spent 10 days in April with the PT cohort, capturing the spirit of the work and the students’ and faculty’s reflections on it. “The video wasn’t necessarily meant to show the history of the program, but rather the impact of the program on the students and the people they serve,” Sandi said.

Twenty years ago, as part of a new venture in the Institute for Latin American Concern, a contingent of Creighton University Department of Physical Therapy professors and students journeyed to Santiago, Dominican Republic. Every spring since, professors and students have returned and spent four weeks helping restore a particular quality of life to people in the city.
